The Pink Flamingo

Last night I took my man out on a date. For the longest time I have wanted to try out the roof top cinema at The Grand Daddy Hotel called The Pink Flamingo. It was nothing short of fantastic.

Yesterday was also our former president, Nelson Mandela's birthday. In honour of him, The Pink Flamingo screened Invictus - possibly the most patriotic South African movie ever. Even the most hardened heart walks away feeling proud to be South African after seeing it.

Now in the middle of winter it seems a bit strange to sit on a roof and watch a movie in the open air, but "Daddy" (as they call themselves) do it in style: blankets, hot water bottles, heaters all around and gluvine. We got popcorn and sweeties with our tickets. The couple in front of us had gone all out and bought the full package: dinner (which looked amazing) and a night over in theAirstream Rooftop Trailor Park. Ah, to be that wealthy. Still, we scored ourselves a couch as a bonus cuz we got there early and asked if we could have one too.

A terrible cellphone camera image of us cuddled on the couch.
