This past weekend, Zaha Hadid celebrated the completion of Guangzhou Opera House, the architect’s first completed project in China. Shaped to resemble two pebbles on the bank of the Pearl River, the design was influenced by river valleys and the way they are transformed by erosion.

When I turned 21, Mom took me to London. When I was there I happened upon the Design Museum at the time they were exhibiting Zaha Hadid's work (obviously not the actual buildings, but models, concepts and virtual tours). It was entirely by chance, and very relevant to me at the time as we'd been looking at her work in college just before I left. I will find the photos and post them sometime.
